Canyonlands Tour
May 10-17, 2010

May 10
:  BOISE * PROVO (CB)
After a light Continental Breakfast at Harmon Travel, you depart Boise and travel through Southern Idaho to Salt Lake City where you will have free time to explore Temple Square and the surrounding area.  This afternoon visit Kennecott Copper Mine where you can watch 240 and 320 ton capacity trucks deliver copper ore.  Continue on to Provo for the night.  Overnight: Cottontree Inn

May 11:  PROVO * BRYCE (B)  Enjoy Breakfast at your hotel before you drive south to a place that almost defies description in its beauty ... Bryce Canyon where you will be met by an expert local guide.  Entering this National Park, everyone has a different reaction. To one it is a mysterious city far away; to another it brings tears by its sheer loveliness.  Overnight: Ruby’s Inn

May 12:  BRYCE * PAGE  Set out this morning to enjoy another natural wonder ... Zion National Park.  The Virgin River has cut its valley through this strangely colored land of sandstone, shale and limestone.  The Zion-Mt. Carmel  Highway, truly an engineering feat, meanders up over the Talus slope in Pine Creek to enter Zion Tunnel, built at a 5% grade complete with windows and  galleries which overlook the colorful panorama of the canyon. At the Visitor’s  Center we board a park bus and follow along Zion Canyon to the Temple of Sinawava. While viewing this portion of the park, we see Bridge Mountain, East Temple, Twin Brothers, and most famous of all, the Great White Throne.  From Zion we travel to Glen Canyon.  The bridge spanning the canyon is the highest and the second longest steel arch bridge in the United States.  Overnight: Lake Powell Resort

May 13:  PAGE * GRAND CANYON (B)  Join your group for breakfast then take a morning boat tour on Lake Powell to Antelope Canyon before traveling to the Grand Canyon where you will be joined by a local expert guide.  One of the most spectacular examples of erosion anywhere in the world, Grand Canyon is unmatched  in the incomparable vistas it offers to visitors on the rim.  The Sheer majesty and beauty of the scenery found here is  beyond belief.  Overnight: Maswik Lodge South in Grand Canyon National Park.

May 14:  GRAND CANYON * MONUMENT VALLEY  Monument Valley is an area of freestanding sandstone rock formations that rise majestically from the desert floor.  Up to 1,000 feet tall, they create a truly magical desert landscape.  Take an afternoon tour of Monument Valley.  See beautiful arches, ruins and rock art.  Overnight: Gouldings

May 15:  MONUMENT VALLEY * CORTEZ  Today, we head into Cortez for the night.  On the way we pass through Four Corners - the only place where you can be in 4 states at the same time! This afternoon we drive to Mesa Verde National   Monument, one of the major archeological preserves of the Federal Government.  Here you will be able to view some of the largest and most well-preserved cliff dwellings in existence.  After your tour you will head to your hotel in Cortez for the night.   Overnight: Holiday Inn Express

May 16:  CORTEZ * PRICE (CB,D)  After a Deluxe Continental Breakfast this morning, we travel to Moab, Utah to visit Arches National Park. A local expert will guide you through the world's largest concentration of natural stone arches.  Arches National Park is a red, arid desert punctuated with oddly eroded sandstone forms. Continue to Price.  This evening join the group for a farewell dinner.   Overnight: Holiday Inn

May 17:  PRICE * BOISE  Return to Boise today with time to lean back and contemplate the many varied experiences of the past several days.
