Detailed Itinerary:

Day 1   USA - Amsterdam
Overnight flight to Amsterdam.
Day 2  

Amsterdam
Arrive in Amsterdam and transfer to your luxurious floating hotel, conveniently docked near the Central Railway Station, not far from many of the city’s attractions. Enjoy the balance of the day at leisure. Tonight, meet your fellow travelers at your welcome onboard dinner.

Day 3   Cologne
The morning finds you cruising on the legendary Rhine. Cruise through fashionable Düsseldorf before arriving in Cologne, Germany’s oldest city. Here you will tour the cathedral and absorb its many cultural and historical treasures, dedicated to the relics of the three Magi. The ship docks near the cathedral, making it easy to enjoy a walk through the old town tonight.
Day 4   Koblenz - Rudesheim
This morning, arrive in Koblenz at the confluence of the Rhine and Moselle rivers. Enjoy a walking tour of this historic city. You then proceed to Rüdesheim through the dramatic Rhine Gorge, a beautiful stretch of the river, and marvel at beautiful castles. See the legendary Lorelei Rock, where a mythical siren lured sailors to their doom on the reefs below. In Rüdesheim, travel by Mini-train to the fascinating Siegfried’s Mechanical Musical Instrument Museum. The ship docks here for the night. You may explore the charming Drosselgasse, a cobblestone lane lined with wine taverns and restaurants.
Day 5   Heidelberg
Disembark in Frankfurt for a scenic drive to Heidelberg, the oldest university town in Germany. Tour the romantic ruins of the ancient castle, overlooking the picturesque Neckar Valley. Local guides will lead you through the historic city center, followed by lunch in a local restaurant. Reboard your ship in Aschaffenburg, further along the Main River and continue cruising a narrow stretch of the river surrounded by the mountains and forests of the Spessart National Park before arriving in Miltenberg tonight.
Day 6   Miltenberg - Wurzburg
Disembark after breakfast for a tour of this old Franconian town and its pretty, cobblestone lanes lined with gabled, halftimbered houses. From Miltenberg, a motor coach will take you to the beautiful town of Wertheim, where you will board the ship in time for lunch. This afternoon, tour Würzburg. Visit the magnificent Prince Bishop’s Residenz Palace before returning to the ship later this afternoon.
Day 7   Option, Rothenburg
Enjoy a full day of cruising through the sunny valleys of the meandering Main, Passing picturesque Kitzingen, before arriving late in the evening in Schweinfurt. Alternatively, you may take an optional overland tour to the Romantic Road and fairytale town of Rothenburg. Tour the city and enjoy a traditional lunch in a local restaurant. There will be time to browse at a world famous Christmas Shop before returning to the ship before dinner.
Day 8   Bamberg - Nuremberg
Enter the Main-Danube Canal at Bamberg, one of Germany’s most beautiful cities. Disembark and enjoy a guided tour of this medieval gem, with its uniquely intact townscape. See the cathedral, the Old Town Hall and the city’s serpentine streets with charming houses, a UNESCO world heritage house and 18th-century mansions. You will then rejoin the ship by motorcoach and continue to Nuremberg tonight.
Day 9   Nuremberg
After breakfast, enjoy a guided tour of this historic city. Nuremberg, an “Imperial City” during the Middle Ages was known as the treasure chest of the German Empire. A thousand years of art and architecture will ensure a very memorable visit. At lunchtime, continue your cruise through the highest point of any commercial waterway in Europe — 1,332 feet above sea level. Enter the southern ramp of the Main-Danube Canal and descend through stair-step locks to the town of Riedenburg for the night.
Day 10   Kelheim - Regensburg
Early this morning your ship glides through the tranquil Altmühl Valley and enters the Danube River at Kelheim. This afternoon disembark for a guided stroll around historic Regensburg widely regarded as the medieval wonder of Germany; a living witness to more than two thousand years of rich and colorful history.
Day 11   Passau
Arrive this morning in Passau, where the Inn and Ilz rivers join the Danube. A guided walking tour of the Old Town embodies all the elements of a Danube River port with its cathedral, fortress, narrow cobblestone streets and architectural attractions such as the breathtaking Cathedral of St. Stephan, which contains the world’s largest church pipe organ. Spend the afternoon at leisure in Passau. Cruise overnight to Austria.
Day 12   Melk - Vienna
A guided tour of Melk takes you to the magnificent Benedictine Abbey. The cruise continues through the romantic Wachau Valley, the most beautiful river region in Austria, dotted with castles, vineyards and little riverside towns. After dinner, arrive in Vienna in time to enjoy an optional concert of Strauss and Mozart.
Day 13   Vienna
Savor the captivating Baroque elegance of the romantic “City of Waltzes.” During your coach tour around Ringstrasse, you will see the Hofburg Palace, impressive Vienna State Opera House, City Hall and Austria Parliament. Then a walking tourto the heart of Vienna to St. Stephens Cathedral. This afternoon, you are free to stroll along the shop-lined, pedestrianonly Kärntnerstrasse and sample some of Vienna’s famous pastries.
Day 14   Budapest
Today cruise through Hungary passing Esztergom and the Danube Bend to reach Budapest late this afternoon. Make sure you are on deck as your ship makes its dramatic entrance into this beautiful city. A joy to behold.
Day 15   Budapest
This morning’s tour includes the city’s most interesting sights of Buda and Pest. Explore the beautiful Gothic St. Matthias Church and view the city from the Fishermen’s Bastion. Spread over both banks, you will have a splendid view of the historic Buda Castle. You will also pass by Hero’s Square, Opera House, Houses of Parliament and the Elisabeth Bridge. Your afternoon is free.
Day 16   Budapest - USA
